Oscars 2008
I will be watching the Academy Awards tonight, as I try to do every year. The major difference is that this is one of the few years (recently, anyway) that I've seen the majority of the major nominees. As such, I feel more confident than usual in my predictions as to the winners. (For example: last year I saw a few of the nominees, but not most, and I was 11/15 in my picking of the winners.)
So, anyway, I usually watch the Oscars, and make fun of the host, ridiculously overdone montages, very overdressed actors, and faux earnestness that the winners put in their acceptance speeches. It's all very amusing to me. Usually, the films I really love in any given year do not get nominated for one reason or another (company politics usually being the culprit), but this year, I liked a lot of the main nominees.
